ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Cardiologists are welcoming a new study that finds the downward trend in stroke cases is continuing across the United States.
“Fewer people are actually suffering from strokes and the people who do have strokes they’re not catastrophic strokes where they pass away from them, so the numbers are going in the right direction,” SLU Care Cardiologist Dr. Michael Lim at Saint Louis University Hospital says.
Lim says many of us now are starting to do the right things to lower our stroke risk: eating a better diet, stopping smoking, exercising more, and watching our cholesterol.
But he says the numbers are still high, so there’s lots of room for improvement.
