HOUSTON (CBS-Houston) – The 2013-14 college football season ended in sensational fashion with Auburn defeating Alabama in the Iron Bowl on the strength of a 109-yard-run by Chris Davis. However, it was Florida State that defeated Auburn 34-31 to win the National Championship. The cherry on top for Florida State was seeing their Quarterback, Jameis Winston, win the Heisman Trophy.

The Big 12 also celebrated in a big way and Baylor was a big part of that. The Bears have lots to be excited about with the opening of their new stadium and ranked No. 2 behind Oklahoma in the Big 12 Media Preseason Poll. Head Coach Art Briles visited with the Touchdown Club of Houston July 16th and voiced his thoughts about the upcoming season, expectations, and his quarterback, Bryce Petty.

The SEC got the 2014 football season started with SEC Media Day and the buzz seemed to be, take a guess, Johnny Manziel. However, Texas A&M Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin thwarted all attempts to make Johnny ‘Football’ the main topic of conversation. Hear Sumlin’s responses.

Meanwhile, locally, Houston will sport a new stadium with Cougars Head Coach Tony Levine running the show while Rice Head Football Coach David Bailiff gets the 2014 season underway with a Conference USA Championship under his belt.
