ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested in the beating death of his girlfriend’s 18-month-old daughter, whose body was buried under a North Texas bridge.

A search warrant affidavit indicates Tylea Moore was killed in Arlington on Friday and her diaper-clad body then wrapped in a blanket and buried near Springtown, about 40 miles away.

Police were called Sunday to investigate after relatives could not find the child. Police said the girlfriend eventually led investigators to the grave.

When Arlington police arrested 20-year-old Markus Beard in the death Monday he was already jailed after a Saturday arrest on drug and traffic violations. He now faces a capital murder charge.

Beard remained in jail Tuesday. Bail hasn’t been set in the capital murder case. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.
