HOUSTON (CBS Houston): In a reversal of position, and in the midst of a team wide offense slump, the Houston Astros have finally made the call fans have been waiting for.
The team is recalling OF George Springer from Class AAA Oklahoma City for Wednesday’s game against the Royals, according to reports.
Springer set the minor leagues on fire last season, when he hit 37 Home Runs and stole 45 bases while splitting time between Class AA Corpus Christi and Oklahoma City.
This season, despite being pitched around heavily, Springer is hitting .353. In Tuesday night’s game, Springer went 3-4 with a grand slam and scored 4 runs.
Springer has been learning to play right field this season, after being a center fielder in the past.
To make room for Springer, the team sent OF Robbie Grossman, who was hitting only .136 entering Tuesday, to Oklahoma City.
