Babysitter Drops Baby Off At Fire Station After Mom Doesn’t Come Back To Get Her

HOUSTON, Texas (CBS Houston) – A babysitter dropped off a baby girl at a fire station because the child’s mother never came back to get her.

Alysha, the babysitter who only wanted to be identified by her first name, explained that she and another woman offered to watch the 5-month-old girl named Lily because they noticed the mother would leave the baby alone in the motel where they were living, KPRC reported.

The two women watched Lily overnight, but the mother didn’t return to get Lily, so Alysha took the baby to Houston Fire Station #35.

“She hasn’t called, hasn’t tried to find out where her baby is,” Alysha told KHOU. “Pretty much bringing her here was the last resort because we don’t know where she belongs.”

The woman shared that firefighters were surprised when she walked in the door with Lily.

“Well, they were like a little bit shocked,” Alysha explained to KHOU. “They were more than willing to help and they jumped right into action.”

Child Protective Services could not locate Lily’s mother, but they are hoping that TV coverage will bring her forward.

In the meantime, an emergency custody hearing for Lily is being held Tuesday.
