HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans have signed their first free agent of the off season, defensive tackle Jarrell Powe.

Powe played two games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013.  He was sixth round selections by the Chiefs in 2011. At the time, current Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was the head coach of the Chiefs. In three NFL season’s he has 8 tackles and one loss.

At 6’2 331, Powe’s size is typical of a nose tackle in Crennel’s more traditional 3-4 defense. With the signing of Powe, Houston now has five defensive lineman under contract.

No word on the money Powe will be making with the Texans.
