ABILENE, Texas (AP) — A West Texas woman interrupted her trial in her daughter’s death when she collapsed in wails over display of the toddler’s autopsy photos to jurors.

Tiffany Klapheke began crying, yelling and hyperventilating Friday as the second autopsy photo of 22-month-old daughter Tamryn was displayed in the Abilene courtroom. The images showed the child’s body covered by bright red and purple patches blamed on prolonged contact with her own urine and feces.

Klapheke collapsed and was led from the courtroom. The images were kept from her view when she returned.

The Taylor County jury will resume hearing testimony on Monday.

The 23-year-old woman is charged with injury to a child in the August 2012 death by malnutrition and dehydration.

If convicted, she could receive a life sentence.
