Nashville (CBS Houston) – The Houston Texans will have the first overall pick in the NFL Draft on May 8th in New York City. This will be the third number one overall pick in franchise history.
A 16-10 Loss loss to the Tennessee Titans assured the Texans of the worst record in the league at 2-14. The 14 losses came consecutively, a Texans franchise record. The record also ties the Texans for their worst record ever, matching the 2005 season.
The pick was sealed for the Texans by a pick from their former starting quarterback Matt Schaub. Schaub had a chance to win the game for the Texans but his first pass with just over a minute left in the game was intercepted.
Many believe the Texans will be looking for a quarterback with that first overall pick. Texans GM Rick Smith has already been scouting college bowl games.
The impending draft choice is not the only big decision for the Texans as they will also have a new head coach in 2014. Reports are saying that the Texans are close to hiring Bill O’Brien from Penn State.
