Houston (CBS Houston)- The Houston Texans continue their search for the right man to turn this franchise around and to begin a new era.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Penn State’s head coach Bill O’Brien is one of the top candidates for the Houston Texans. O’Brien and the Texans have both agreed to meet and interview.

O’Brien, does have the NFL experience that the Owner Bob McNair is looking for, being the former New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator.

At Penn State University, O’Brien is experienced in rebuilding and changing the culture. He was hired before the 2012 season and led the Lions to a 7-5 season in his second year on the job.

O’Brien signed a 5-year contract with PSU and his projected NFL buyout is expected to be $6.5 million.

The only other reported interview has been former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith.
