Dallas To Pay Nearly $1.2M To Family Of Dead Cyclist

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas City Council has agreed to pay nearly $1.2 million to the mother of a bicyclist who died after being run over by a police car.

Council members Wednesday approved the settlement over the May death of 51-year-old Fred Bradford Jr.

Virginia Bradford sued the city over the accident during an April police chase as officers investigated suspicious activity in the area.

Dallas police Chief David Brown in August fired two police officers over the incident and one was charged with criminally negligent homicide. Police determined the officers did not immediately call for an ambulance after Bradford was hurt and later told paramedics that someone else struck the bicyclist.
