DEL RIO, Texas (AP) — The last of a dozen Texas Mexican Mafia members convicted in a conspiracy and corruption ring has been sentenced to prison.

A federal judge in Del Rio on Thursday afternoon sentenced 31-year-old Eliseo Sanchez III of Crystal City to nearly six years in prison. Prosecutors say Sanchez conspired to violate the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization law.

Sanchez was also sentenced to two years in prison for violating his supervised release conditions stemming from a prior immigrant smuggling conviction. The sentences must be served consecutively.

Investigators say the gang took part in organized criminal activity including attempted murder, retaliation, extortion and distribution of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine.
