Student Arrested For Lighting Teacher’s Hijab On Fire

BATON ROGUE, La. (CBS Houston) – An eighth grade student was arrested after setting his teacher’s hijab on fire using a cigarette lighter.

According to the Daily Caller, the local school drug task force, a division within the sheriff’s office, was called to Westdale Middle School on the morning of Oct. 4 after the incident to investigate.

Moments before the incident, the teacher admonished the 14-year-old student for his behavior.

The teacher suffered no injuries.

Many parents were unhappy because they were never notified about the incident and a few have alleged a school cover-up.

It’s unknown as to how the incident came to light three weeks later.

The student was charged with aggravated assault and booked into juvenile detention. The student was also expelled from the school following the incident.
