TERRELL, Texas (CBS Houston) – Five people are dead after what police are calling a crime spree east of Dallas.

36-year-old Charles Everett Brownlow, Jr was taken into custody after leading police on a car chase through the town of Terrell, according to CBSDFW.

Terrell police Chief Jody Lay said the body of a woman was found with a bullet wound to her head early Monday evening.

The body of a second woman was found about a half-hour later inside a burning house.

At about 10:30 p.m. the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in a home.

A 3-year-old child was inside the house, but was not injured.

Later police found the body of a convenience store worker who had been shot to death.

Authorities publicly named Brownlow as a suspect before he was apprehended after crashing his car and running into a wooded area.

Police have not identified the victims.
