HOUSTON (AP) — Two Army National Guard soldiers in Texas have pleaded guilty to wrongly obtaining nearly $30,000 in recruiting bonuses.

Federal prosecutors say Annika Chambers of Houston on Tuesday pleaded guilty to conspiracy and bribery. Elisha Ceja of Barboursville, W.V., on Oct. 1 pleaded guilty to the same counts. Both await sentencing and face prison terms of up to 15 years for bribery and five years for conspiracy, plus fines.

Prosecutors in Houston say Ceja and Chambers paid Army National Guard recruiters for the names and Social Security numbers of potential soldiers, then used the data to falsely claimed referral bonuses. Ceja collected about $12,000. Chambers received approximately $17,000.

More than two dozen people have been charged in the recruiting scam, with 16 individuals so far pleading guilty.
