NEW YORK (AP) — Fox has reacquired U.S. broadcast rights to the German Bundesliga starting with the 2015-16 season.
The Deutsche Fussball Liga and 21st Century Fox announced a five-year contract Monday. Fox Soccer Channel had broadcast the Bundesliga through the 2005-06 season before losing the rights to GolTV, whose current deal extends through the 2014-15.
Fox lost rights to Italy’s Serie A after the 2011-12 season and to England’s Premier League after 2012-13.
The Bundesliga is the last major European league whose rights are held by GolTV.
Fox said it was acquiring Bundesliga broadcast rights for more than 80 countries and territories as part of two-year agreements in Europe and five-year deals in the Americas and Asia. Among the areas are Italy and the Netherlands in Europe; Brazil, Canada and Mexico in the Americas; and China (English), Indonesia and Japan in Asia.
The rights will be held by Fox Sports, Sky Italia and Fox International Channels and include online and mobile. The DFL Supercup and the Bundesliga relegation-promotion playoffs are included in the package.
