The UFC on Wednesday headed to Brazil on Fox Sports 1, and 2 fights on the card gave you a new contender in their respective division. The Bantamweight weight bout between Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw was what you would expect between 2 of the top guys in the Bantamweight division, both guys slugged it out in a technical back and forth with Brazilian Assuncao getting the win in a razor close split decision. The Main event between Welterweight’s Demian Maia and Jake Shields, could have giving Maia a title shot but instead Shields comes out a winner in a split decision. The 2 engaged in a wrestling/BJJ match for all 5 rounds and with Shields coming out the winner, now he more than likely gets another top 10 match.

After the card the bonus awards were announced 50,000 dollars to Raphael Assucao and T.J. Dillashaw for fight of the night, Dong Hyun Kim for knockout of the night. Rousimar Palhares would have won submission of the night for his 30 second heel hook but lost his bonus for holding the submission too long.
