Brandon Brooks Misses Second Straight Practice
Texans right guard Brandon Brooks sat out today’s practice with a toe injury. It’s the second straight practice he’s had to sit out. Gary Kubiak said he’s day to day, and isn’t sure if he’ll play in San Francisco Sunday Night.
“We’ll see where we’re at tomorrow,” said Kubiak. “[We’re] trying to keep him off of it for a couple of days. He’s played pretty darn good for us as a young player, so we’ll see where he’s at.”
If Brooks can’t go against the 49ers, Ben Jones will take his place. Jones has seen spot playing time at left and right guard in each of the Texans four games this season. Last year, he played in 15 games, starting 9 at right guard.
“I played 12, 11 games last year at right guard,” said Jones. “I’ve been rotating in at both guards and center all the way through camp and everything, so right guard isn’t going to be much of a challenge.”
>>> LT Duane Brown was a full go at practice today. He’s missed the last two games with a sprained toe. Kubiak said he’s moving in the right direction and could return Sunday.
>>> Texans LB Brian Cushing (concussion), FB Greg Jones (foot, groin), and WR Andre Johnson (sore leg) were limited at practice today. Kubiak expects Jones to be a full go tomorrow, and says Johnson “is a limited practicing guy right now with what we’re doing”.
>>> Inside linebackers Darryl Sharpton (hip/foot) and Tim Dobbins (hamstring) did not practice today, and hasn’t suited up since leaving the Ravens game with said injury.
>>> Meanwhile, LG Wade Smith was back at practice after missing yesterday with a knee injury.
>>> Owen Daniels and Johnathan Joseph returned after they both had the day off for rest.
