HOUSTON – (CBS HOUSTON) A domestic dispute Sunday that was taken to the road caused the death of a mother and severely injured her pre-school aged son, when their car was collided with when a man tried to run his wife off the road near Baytown, TX.

On FM 1943 near Garth Road a man, Emil McMahon, who the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says was trying to maneuver to interfere with the driving of his wife off the road, swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the vehicle driven by Tania M Vercher of Baytown and killing her just before 11 a.m.

Vercher’s young son was in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center Sunday night.

McMahon was taken into custody but charges were pending the results of blood tests.

Ivestigators say that McMahon, traveling eastbound, moved into the westbound lane of FM 1943 and struck Vercher’s vehicle. McMahon’s truck burst into flames. His wife didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
