Houston (CBS Houston)– This week has been all about Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub’s play and leadership but Friday the story shifts a bit to the Seattle Seahawks potential offensive line injuries.
The Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was on KIRO-FM and announced that starting right tackle Breno Giacomini and All-Pro center Max Unger might not play against the Texans defense.
“We are banged up and we’ve got some guys that are going to have a hard time making it this week,” Carroll said.
Add these possible losses to already missing Pro Bowl left tackle Russell Okung and that offensive line will look completely different Sunday at Reliant.
The Seahawks do have one of the most mobile quarterbacks in Russell Wilson. Wilson who is coming off of his best game of the 2013 season where he threw four touchdown passes and completed 14 of 21 throws for 202 yards and a quarterback rating of 117.5 in the 45-17 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said on Thursday that his staff is well aware of their personnel changes.
“Personnel is a big part of the NFL game. Match-ups and personnel are a big part of our game-plans and certainly adjustments during the game as to somebody being injured,” Phillips said. “We also have to make adjustments, if they have somebody out, if their fast receiver is out or those kinds of things. Those are game time, game day adjustments.”
Texans (2-1) will host the Seahawks (3-0) at Reliant Stadium Sunday, Sept. 29.
