Texans vs. Titans: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Texans in week 2 are able to win in the final moments, this week instead of winning it in the last play like last week, it took overtime to defeat the Titans with a final score of 30 to 24. Two weeks in a row the Texans did not deserve to win a game but for two weeks they have been comeback kids and landed the final blow and pulled out the ‘W’.
To open the game, the Texans used Thunder and Lighting too take it the length of the field. In the final drive in OT they were heavy on the run too. Arian Foster and Ben Tate combined for 28 touches and a 172 yards, Tate continues to look strong and Foster is getting better and better, almost back to the normal Arian Foster.
Player of the game sure could have been Shane Lechler, the future hall of fame punter changed field position all game long. It seemed every drive the Titans had started inside their own 10, Lechler flipped the field and bailed out the offense a lot and of his 7 punts, 5 were inside the 20.
Had the team had lost, Hopkins could have been a low-light, he solely was responsible for 1 of Matt Schaub’s 2 interceptions running the wrong route even though Schaub took the blame post game. Instead in overtime, the rookie went beast-mode for a 25 yard catch and a 3 yard TD to end the game. Hopkins finished the game with 7 catches for 117 yards and a TD.
Well there’s no way around it, Randy Bullock was BAD and had a very forgettable game. He missed 3 field goals 50, 50, and a 51 yarder, while it didn’t cost the team the game, next week it could. Bullock’s misses now force coaches to play call differently till he can earn trust back.
3rd Down Efficiency
While they won the game, a glaring 6 for 17 on 3rd downs is a problem. Last week against the Chargers the team was 7 for 14 on 3rd down, so you hope the problem is the Titans have a better defense and the problem isn’t bad play calling.
He was injured and forced to leave the game, that is UGLY in every way, the hit and him leaving the game. Johnson caught a 21 yard pass and while heading out of bounds was knocked out by former Texans Safety Bernard Pollard. The very early update is Johnson is being evaluated for a concussion.
