Houston (CBS Houston) – The Houston Texans coming off one of the greatest comebacks in franchise history are turning their sights towards their Sunday battle against their division rivals, Tennessee Titans.
The players began to prepare on Wednesday, but not all was serious as the team decided to take time to celebrate future Hall of Famer Ed Reed’s 35th birthday.
“We gave him a gift today,” said rookie safety D.J. Swearinger. “(We) actually got him a walker.”
Defensive back Johnathan Joseph said it was safety Danieal Manning’s idea, “He said let’s get him a walker for his birthday, all in all we got him a cake and a Hall of Fame jacket made.”
Swearinger proudly showed off the team’s gag-gift calling his veteran safety, “Old man, old man Ed.”
“He’s seen it,” laughed Swearinger. “He started laughing and playing around with it. He’s a funny guy.”
Reed did participate in a light practice Wednesday, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said, “I’ll probably answer that question better (Thursday) when we go back out there and get our pads on for a little bit again.”
Texans host the Titans Sunday at Reliant Stadium.
