Houston (CBS Houston) – The Texans hit the practice field Wednesday before addressing the media. Here’s the latest news and notes from Reliant.
>>>Antonio Smith returned to practice after serving his suspension. Smith was so excited to rejoin the team he was waiting for the Texans at Reliant when they returned from San Diego. They didn’t get in until about 6:30 am on Tuesday.
“He’s glad to be back. It’s the most I’ve ever seen him smile in one day. Just goes to show, makes you appreciate what you’re doing. I think he really does.” said Kubaik.
>>>Despite today’s practice being lighter than usual, Ed Reed was a full-go.
“We were full-go at practice. We were pretty light at practice today with such a quick turnaround. Practice was pretty much a jog through, but everybody was pretty much accounted for. Everybody practiced. Took his reps and more, I would say that.” said Kubiak.
>>>Darryl Sharpton could be cleared as early as tomorrow.
“He’s fine, but we didn’t do a whole lot today. He did take a step forward, so practicing is another step in the protocol and he puts his pads on tomorrow.” said Kubiak
>>>Brice McCain’s “banged up knee” is not a major concern. He told Sports Radio 610 he’s good to go.
>>>Ben Tate and Arian Foster both spoke to the media.
“I tell him everyday, I’m coming for your spot everyday. That’s just the way it is.” said Tate.
“You want to be out there, you feel like you’ve earned that right to be out there and that’s just what the frustration comes from.” said Foster.

>>>The Texans expect pressure from new Titans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
“They’re an aggressive group. A team we know well. We play twice a year, but they’re an active, very fast-flow, physical defense. We’re going to have to be in top-form for 60 minutes.” said Matt Schaub.
