Houston (CBS Houston) – Ed Reed’s status for Monday night’s season opener in San Diego is still up in the air. Reed did practice on Thursday but only on a limited basis. While Gary Kubiak didn’t rule out Reed playing Monday, he did say Reed isn’t ready yet.

“There’s some progress that would have to be made to get him ready to go on Monday but boy has he made a lot of progress.” said Kubiak. “I don’t want to say it can’t happen because there’s been such good progress.”

There have been conflicting reports about Reed’s status for San Diego. Kubiak maintained it will depend on how Reed’s 34-year old body handles the final few days of preparation.

“We’ll hopefully do a little more tomorrow (Friday) we’ll put him in his pads tomorrow and see how he responds to that but there has been great progress.”
