Houston (CBS Houston) – According to Ken Rosenthal, the Houston Astros have claimed Eric Thames off waivers Thursday.

He will report to Oklahoma City and reliever Hector Ambriz will be designated for assignment to make room for Thames.

Thames, 26, is an outfielder from Baltimore that never saw playing time in the majors in 2013, however he did play 36 games in Triple-A.

He was drafted in the seventh round by the Blue Jays in 2008.
