Houston (CBS Houston) – Inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton’s status for Monday’s season opener against San Diego is unknown. Gary Kubiak told reporters Thursday Sharpton has been diagnosed with a concussion before the Texans third preseason game against the Saints. The 4th-year linebacker was not on the practice field as he continues to work his way through the NFL’s concussion protocol.
“He is in the concussion protocol right now. He’s doing very well today but is not back on the practice field.” said Gary Kubiak.
Sharpton has had problems staying healthy in the NFL. His string of injuries are part of the reason the Texans decided to bring in veteran inside linebacker Joe Mays during the preseason.
