Ed Reed Unlikely To Play Monday

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – With news of Ed Reed getting in his first practice as part of the Houston Texans yesterday, there was notable excitement that he might play in the Week 1 Monday night opener against the San Diego Chargers. Those hopes have been all but dashed as Jason La Conforna is reporting that Reed is highly unlikely to take the field Monday.

La Conforna cites a source within the Texans saying the it is unlikely for the 11 year veteran to see action as early as Week 1.

The Texans want to make sure that Reed is ready to go after off-season hip surgery that has seen him miss all of training camp and the preseason for the defending AFC South Champions.
