Seattle Mariners v Houston Astros

Astros end a 5 game losing streak in grand fashion, no it wasn’t outscoring the Mariners by 10 runs and blowing them out of town. It was a dominate pitching performance by Brett Oberholtzer. Oberholtzer went 9 innings of 4 hit no run ball to become the 1st Astro this season to toss a complete game. Oberholtzer’s biggest threat was early on in the 3rd inning with runners on 1st and 3rd, but was able to strike out Nick Franklin to end the inning. From there on out it was smooth sailing for the hometown team.

Mariners Hisashi Iwakuma was matching Oberholtzer pitch for pitch but in the 7th he was relieved by Charlie Furbush and the Astros jumped on Furbush early. Jose Altuve and Jason Castro smacked back to back doubles to give the Astros the lead. They scored once more one a squeeze, but the 1 run was all they needed as Oberholtzer nailed down the W. Oberholtzer told Altuve in the 8th to get him a run “just get me one” after they got him the lead he was hoping to go back out for the 9th “my pitch count was low so I figured I could get 9″. Astros win 2-0, coming up next for the good guys a series with the Minnesota Twins
