Houston (CBS Houston) – Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak indicated Tuesday that DeAndre Hopkins could play Thursday during the Texans’ final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington.
“He’s doing good,” coach Kubiak said after the Texans yearly team luncheon. “He has not been totally cleared to return to practice, that could happen tomorrow.”
Coach Kubiak shared with the media that the Texans’ No. 27 overall pick in the 2013 draft has moved to stage four of five in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
“I think there’s a good chance,” Kubiak said. “I’d like him to play a little bit but that will be up to the doctors.”
Hopkins, who has six receptions for 74 yards, suffered a head injury in the second preseason game, August 17 against Miami. Coach Kubiak said he might practice as early as Wednesday.
