The Saints came too Houston for the regular season tune up, after the Texans picked up wins against the Vikings, the Dolphins. The Texans dropped the ball against the Saints, losing 31 to 23. Losing a game in the preseason means nothing in the big scheme of things, but what exactly were some of the things we saw during the game?
Andre “Freaking” Johnson
Did someone forget to mention to Johnson this was a preseason game, and that he is on the wrong side of 30? Johnson in the 1st half of the game, Johnson had 7 catches for 131 yards while nearing 20 yards a catch.
Going in to the regular season we have all wondered if Tate, will be the Tate from 2011 or 2012. At the very least during the Saints game, he looked like the 2011 Ben Tate.
Randy Bullock/Shane Lechler
That missed kick by Bullock against the Vikings has stuck in are crawl, but yesterday Randy had a little bit of redemption. Randy knocked a 55 yarder through the uprights while going 3 for 3 on kicks. Lechler saw his first action of the preseason and looked great.
Both of the team’s prime time corner backs allowed big plays. Most notably the 2 plays to Saints 2013 5th round draft pick Kenny Stills.
While we didn’t get much to see this week, there were some bad plays…. Brandon Harris had illegal block that wiped out a punt return TD, and the team allowed a 52 yard kickoff return.
The team lost by 8 points, but lead by just about every other stat. Texans won the time of possession battle by almost 10 minutes. Texans almost had a 100 extra net yards 496 to the Saints 380, but the team failed in the red zone going 2 for 5 not going to cut it in the regular season
