Houston (CBS Houston) – The Texans took their first step towards trimming their roster down to 53 for opening day.

By 3:00 pm (CST) Tuesday all teams have to be down to 75 players. According to reports the Texans waived 11 on Monday in advance of the deadline. (P) Andre Shapiro, (ILB) Ja’Gared Davis, (CB) Travis Howard, (DE) Earl Okine, (RB) Ray Graham, (T) Nick Mondek, (G) Bryan Collins, (FB) Zach Boren, (ILB) Elliot Coffey, (TE) Adam Schiltz, and (QB) Stephen McGee.

Three more will have to be cut tomorrow.

“They work their tail of for you for a month and you’ve got to tell them ‘not this time’ it’s difficult.” said Gary Kubiak.

The Texans will have until August 31st to get to the league mandated 53 players.
