Piland Named University Of Houston’s Starting Quarterback

Houston (CBS Houston) – University of Houston head coach Tony Levine named junior David Piland the starting quarterback . Piland ,who last season threw for 2,929 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, will play in Houston’s season opener vs. Southern at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Reliant Stadium.
Piland, who started 10 games, was limited late in the season by head and leg injuries. Levine also named freshman John O’Korn as the backup for the Cougars.
