Houston (CBS Houston) – With Whitney Mercilus still out with a hamstring injury Willie Jefferson will start at outside linebacker against the Saints. Jefferson has been been a bright spot for the Texans since they signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin University.

Jefferson played defensive end in college before converting to outside linebacker with the Texans. He’s shown a lot of ability in pass rushing situations but still has improvements to make.

“If we’re sitting there playing tomorrow against San Diego, he’s going to be on the field rushing the passer in a lot of situations. But he’s got a long way to go. He’s sure working toward it. Hasn’t missed a day.” said Kubiak.
