Houston (CBS Houston) – The Houston Astros announced Friday that they’ve placed rookie catcher Max Stassi on the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Stassi, 22, sustained a mild concussion after being hit by a pitch in the face while batting in the 8th inning on Wednesday night. According to the team’s press release, Stassi underwent X-rays and a CAT scan in Arlington, which revealed no facial fractures. And when he returned to Houston he underwent tests for a concussion on Thursday. Stassi’s DL stint is backdated to yesterday.
General Manager Jeff Luhnow also announced Friday that they have selected catcher Cody Clark from Corpus Christi to replace Stassi. This will be Clark’s major league debut after an 11 year career in the minors.
The Astros host the Blue Jays tonight at Minute Made Park for the first of a weekend three game series.
