Texans v Dolphins 021

Houston (CBS Houston) - Brian Cushing’s long battle back from a torn ACL sustained in week five of last season finally came to an end Saturday night.

The  71,401 on hand let out a collective roar when Cushing was introduced before the game. Even Texans owner Bob Mcnair was anxious to see his star linebacker back out there.

“I was pleased to see his quickness. That’s the big question and he’s got the quickness. He can get out there and run with recievers and cover a lot of ground.” said Mcnair.

Cushing plays with emotion. The type of emotion that doesn’t come out in the trainers room or the doctors office. Gary Kubiak was happy to see Cushing having fun on the football field again.

“I’m proud of him.  I told him going out of the tunnel today, ‘welcome back. I’m proud of you. You worked your tail off.’  He’s got a lot of confidence right now and for him to get out there and get hit on again and all that type of stuff is a big step in the right direction.” said Kubiak.
