HOUSTON (CBS Houston) On Tuesday morning, The FBI released information about their intention in obtaining information about now deceased serial killer Israel Keyes who spent time in several Texas cities including Houston, Humble and Shepherd.
The FBI believes that Keyes committed at least eleven kidnappings and murders across the country between 2001 and March 2012. “Keyes committed suicide while in custody in Anchorage, Alaska, after confessing to being a serial killer, on December 2, 2012,” added officials with the FBI.
The FBI is working to identify the extent of Keyes’ travels and activities during his travels across the country and Texas. “Despite Keyes’ denial, investigators believe Keyes may be responsible for a homicide in Texas or a surrounding state, and is seeking the public’s assistance specifically as it pertains to the following locations during the time period of February 12 through March 13, 2012,” stated FBI officials.
As they work to gather information about Keys, the FBI stated that on February 12, 2012, Keyes rented a blue 2011 Kia Soul from a Houston car rental agency and had the vehicle until February 18, 2012. According to rental records,2847 miles were logged in the time period. “In addition to Keyes’ time in Houston, investigators suspect he spent a large part of his time in the Dallas area, where his family lived,” added FBI authorities.
