AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A former elementary school teacher in the Houston and Austin areas has been sentenced to 60 years in prison in a child pornography case.

Prosecutors say 38-year-old Stephen Wayne Sudduth of Sealy was sentenced Tuesday in a plea deal. Sudduth pleaded guilty to three felony charges of child pornography promotion.

Investigators with the state attorney general’s office in 2009 arrested Sudduth after finding more than 58,000 illicit images and videos on his computers. An Austin County grand jury indicted Sudduth on 30 counts of possession of child pornography and 10 counts of promotion of child pornography.

Sudduth in July 2009 resigned from a Hays Consolidated Independent School District in Kyle where he had just been hired. He previously was an elementary teacher with the Katy Independent School District.
