Houston Texans’ Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Cushing will play in the teams second pre-season game this Saturday, according to Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips.
After practice on Monday, Phillips said he plans on having Cushing play because, “he’s been practicing.” Cushing did miss Sunday’s practice after the Texans first pre-season game due to illness.
Cushing thinks also thinks he’ll be on the field. “I plan on it,” Cushing said. “Obviously this is not my decision, and we’re taking things day by day, but I’m practicing to play. So we’ll see what happens and see how I feel by the end of the week.”
Cushing missed the last 11 games of the season last year with a knee injury. Heading into his 5th season with the Texans Cushing has 239 tackles & 115 assisted tackles in his career.
Cushing had 30 tackles in 2012 before hurting his knee against the Miami Dolphins.
