HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to one travel group survey, retail gasoline prices across Texas and nationally have dropped four cents this week (week of August 4th) .

AAA Texas on Thursday stated that the statewide average for a gallon of gas is currently $3.46 per gallon. On a national scale, drivers are paying an average $3.59 per gallon.

Back in Texas, the city of Amarillo has the cheapest gasoline with $3.39 per gallon being reported there. Both Dallas and Galveston are tied for the most expensive prices for gasoline with $3.48 per gallon.

AAA cites the potential for late-summer hurricanes coupled with refinery problems as potential disruptions to gasoline production, supplies and distribution. In Houston on Thursday morning, gasoline was reported to be $3.59 per gallon near the Galleria.
