VEGA, Texas(AP) — An inmate from an Oklahoma jail who fled while on work duty has been captured in the Texas Panhandle driving a stolen government pickup truck.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says 37-year-old Michael Anthony Rhodes was caught Wednesday in a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the day from Lincoln County, Okla. The county truck was stopped following a chase on Interstate 40 near Vega, about 30 miles west of Amarillo.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Rhodes may have been heading to Albuquerque, N.M.

Rhodes, who was serving time for possession of stolen property, faces extradition to Oklahoma.
