HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A three-year-old child was injured after being shot during a drive-by shooting.

The shooting happened on Cypress Gully Drive at Cypress Prairie Drive shortly before 1 a.m., Tuesday, as stated by deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor told officials that two shots were heard and then a white Dodge Charger sped off.

Authorities stated that one of those bullets went through the wall of a home and struck a young boy.

He was sent to the hospital by Life Flight in critical condition and was expected to undergo surgery in an effort to remove the bullet lodged in his back.

Further reports stated that the three-year-old boy was in the living room when the shooting occurred, being supervised by an adult babysitter and two teenage relatives. No other details were released at the time of this report.
