HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A Houston police officer suffered minor injuries Monday morning, after conducting a routine traffic stop along the North Freeway at Airline Drive.
According to authorities, the officer was out of his vehicle and had approached a car on the side of the road, when the driver of an SUV rear-ended his cruiser from behind.
The impact and force from the hit pushed the cruiser into the officer, as well as the car he had originally pulled over during the traffic stop. Both the officer and the driver of the car were both transported to area hospitals and treated for minor injuries. The motorist of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of DWI.
The outbound lanes of the North Freeway at Crosstimbers were closed for a few hours while Houston police investigated.
