Houston (CBS Houston) – With the trade deadline just two days away the Astros have made their first move. Closer Jose Veras has been traded to the Detroit Tigers for minor league outfielder Danry Vasquez.
Vasquez (6’3, 177) has been in the Tigers organization since 2011. He’s spent the last two seasons playing for the West Michigan White Caps in A ball. He’s batting .281 with 5 home runs and 39 RBI.
At 35-69 the Astros will look to sell as the deadline approaches. Bud Norris, Erik Bedard, and Lucas Harrell have all been the subject of trade rumors although Harrell’s stock has fallen after a couple of difficult months.
