HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to reports, six town homes were gutted after a Galleria-area fire in Houston over the weekend.

The fire which happened in the overnight hours of Sunday, reportedly tore through six units at Briarwest Townhomes on Winrock at Ella.

Firefighters got the call around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, crews reportedly pulled a second alarm because of the intensity of the flames.

Additional reports indicate that approximately 60 firefighters battled the blaze. Although crews were able to stop the spread of the fire, the blaze left six town homes completely destroyed.

As officials conduct an investigation as to the cause of the fire, the Red Cross was reportedly on the scene, helping displaced residents.
