HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A South Texas woman was apprehended after authorities found approximately 12 pounds of cocaine inside the battery of her vehicle on Monday; the woman was on her way to Houston.

Reports indicate that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office stated that Alma R. Presas of La Joya was in transit with three children when she was arrested Monday near Flatonia, a city located 100 miles west of Houston.

The woman and children were stopped by a deputy for a traffic violation and upon further investigation, authorities found cocaine hidden in the car battery. The cocaine found during Monday’s stop has a reported street value topping $100,000.

Presas who was charged with possession of a controlled substance, was later freed on a $10,000 bond.

The three children who were in the car with Presas were later reunited with their mother after she had been freed.

There was no other information released at the time of this report.
