Houston (CBS Houston)– With training camp just days away the Texans have agreed to a four-year, $7.6 million deal with first round pick DeAndre Hopkins.
Last year at Clemson, Hopkins recorded 82 receptions, 1,405 yards, and 18 touchdowns. After impressing coaches during OTAs, the 21-year-old is expected to start at wide receiver opposite of Andre Johnson.
“Every day on the practice field he did something that was (like) a one-handed catch or just something that just showed you and remind you why we thought he could come in and really help us.” said Texans GM Rick Smith
Hopkins will be expected to fill the void left by Kevin Walter, who was cut after the 2012 season. Walter caught 41 balls for 518 yards last year.
