Man Charged In Fatal Shooting At Church Parking Lot

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) The Houston Police Department has charged man with the shooting death of a Houston man in a church parking lot.

According to HPD, Jamon Derrell Walker, 23, has been charged with capitol murder, accused of killing 54-year-old Gerald Lynn Williams.

Johnson was found dead in a church parking lot at 3941 Almeda Genoa just before 2 a.m. on July 18.

“A possible suspect vehicle observed leaving the scene was described as a black Mercedes-Benz with Texas license plates 439XDN,” added officials. “The vehicle has a non-functioning passenger side headlight.”

Upon further investigation, Walker was identified as the fatal shooting suspect; he was arrested without incident while driving Johnson’s Mercedes vehicle. “The motive in the shooting was robbery,” added authorities.
