Former Houston Rockets VP Rosas Hired As Mavericks’ New GM
Houston (CBS Houston)- Houston Rockets VP of basketball operations Gersson Rosas has agreed in principle to become the Dallas Mavericks’ new general manager.
Gersson Rosas last big move was this summer, as he helped Houston Rocket’s general manager Daryl Morey land free-agent center Dwight Howard. He began his career as a video coordinator and scout, and rising to executive vice president of basketball operations. Then spent time at the NBA’s Summer League scouting players. As part of his role as executive vice president in Houston, he was also the general manager of the D-League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers, who have won two titles in the past four seasons and reached a third league finals.
Rosas, 35, is a native of Bogota, Columbia, and has a coaching history at the University of Houston and with the Venezuelan national team. Rosas is considered one of the NBA’s best young executives.
