Texans’ Brian Cushing Cleared To Play
Houston (CBS Houston)- According to the latest reports from the Houston Texans, Dr. James Andrews cleared Brian Cushing to play Wednesday. Cushing will be ready to go, July 26th, first day of Texans training camp.
The Texans are looking to take their time with Cushing’s reps next Friday. Texans Athletic Trainer, Geoff Kaplan, joined Texans All Access on SportsRadio 610 and said, “We look forward to Cushing having a successful season.” Kaplan went on to explain why Cushing’s rehab went so well, “Cush is an extremely hard worker and very motivated individual. And when you have the combination of people that are hard workers and motivated individuals they tend to do well in rehab.”
Cushing made his intentions known about a month ago, June 15th, “I’ll be cleared July 17th. I’ll fly down to Pensacola and get cleared by Dr. Andrews, who was my surgeon for my knee. As far as camp goes, the first day, I’ll be out there; I’ll be in pads. As far as how much I’ll do in camp, I’m not sure yet, but I know I will definitely be doing a good amount of it, try to get a preseason game in for sure, just knock some of that rust off and be 100 percent come the first game.”
Cushing suffered a season ending knee injury on a low hit from former Jets guard Matt Slauson. The vocal leader tore his ACL and Slauson later was fined for an illegal peel-back block.
