HOUSTON (CBS Houston) According to reports, Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant is engaged to another professional athlete.
Durant will reportedly marry professional basketball player Monica Wright.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar proposed to girlfriend Wright, who is a guard for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.
Confirmation of their engagement was announced after the Lynx’ Sunday win over the Phoenix Mercury.
Durant and Wright have known each other since the 2006 McDonald’s High School All-American Game.
Additional reports state that Wright who is a 5-foot-11 guard for her WNBA team, was the second overall pick in the 2010 WNBA draft, with an average of 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for the Lynx during the current season. Further reports indicate that the two dated back in high school.
Durant attended the University of Texas for one season of college basketball and won numerous awards.
Wright was reportedly born in San Antonino, moved to Virgina with her family.
She attended the University of Virginia and during her freshman year as a Cavalier, she was named the ACC Rookie of the Year.
During the 2007-08 season, she was also named to the ACC All-Defensive Team and also scored her 1000th point.
No date was set for the nuptials at the time of this report.
