HOUSTON (CBS Houston) The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit is asking for the public’s help in gathering information on a newborn child found abandoned at the Park Center Apartments.

The baby was found on Beamer Road in southeast Harris County over the weekend.

“Harris County Precinct 2 Constables responded around 10:00 am on Saturday, June 29,2013, after a witness called 911 and reported finding the newborn next to a trash container,”added HCSO officials.

“The baby was found wrapped in a black t-shirt and appeared to be less than a few hours old. The infant was examined by medical personnel and was in a healthy condition. He was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital by ambulance.”

Harris County Sheriff’s Office also took time to interview residents of the apartment complex for any leads on who abandoned the infant.

Anyone with information about the baby is being asked to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
